Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, October 9, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Jamario Caldwell, 32. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, October 8, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the intersection of North Davidson Street and East 12th Street in the Central Division.
On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Eastway Division officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with injury call for service in the 100 block of Winding Path Way. Upon arrival, officers located an unoccupied vehicle and multiple shell casings. A short time later, Central Division officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with injury call for service near the intersection of North Davidson Street and East 12th Street. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The Charlotte Fire and MEDIC also responded to the scene. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Detectives are working through the connection between the two incidents.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from the CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.
