Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, October 21, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Joseph McAfee, 23. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have interviewed all individuals involved in this case and no charges will be filed at this time.  CMPD’s Homicide Unit detectives will present the facts of this case to the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office in an independent oversight capacity to ensure the Homicide Unit is applying the applicable laws correctly in their analysis of the evidence.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, October 20, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3700 block of North Davidson Street in the Eastway Division.

On Sunday, October 20, shortly after 8:25 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 3700 block of North Davidson Street.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a subject with a gunshot wound. The subject was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also assisted.
