Homicide Investigation in the Central Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, July 16, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 600 block of North Tryon Street in the Central Division.

 

On Sunday, June 8, 2024, shortly before 2 a.m., Central Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service at a business in the 600 block of North Tryon Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims and two female victims with gunshot wounds outside of the business. One of the male victims had life-threatening injuries. The other three victims had non-life-threatening injuries. All four victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

 

Upon further investigation and a review of surveillance video, it was determined that a verbal and physical altercation occurred outside the business after a group of individuals were denied entry.

 

On Monday, July 8, 2024, Aundrey Brown, Jr., 30, succumbed to his injuries sustained during the shooting incident.  Mr. Brown’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

 

The case has now transitioned from CMPD’s Central Division to the Homicide Unit.
