Homicide Investigation in the Central Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, March 4, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 400 block of North Tryon Street in the Central Division.

 

On Monday, March 4, 2024, shortly after 6:00 a.m., Central Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 400 block of North Tryon Street.  Upon arrival, officers located a female victim suffering from an apparent stab wound.  The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene.  Medic transported the victim to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

 

Central Division detectives and officers responded to the scene along with Crime Scene Search to process the scene and collect physical evidence.

 

A short time after the incident, patrol officers located the suspect.  The suspect was transported to the Central Division Team Office to be interviewed by Division detectives. 

 

Shortly after 8:00 a.m., the victim, Susan Annette Dillehay, 46, succumbed to her injuries related to this incident. 

 

The suspect, Jessica Lashay Robinson, 32, was then interviewed by detectives with the CMPD’s Homicide Unit.  At the conclusion of the interview, Ms. Robinson was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder.

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of her death and the arrest in this case.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
