Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, December 9, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as Rodney Hamilton (11/23/1971).
As a result of the continued investigation, detectives identified Jamar Demontae Davis (12/26/1985) as a suspect in this case. Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department located the suspect shortly after the incident and took him into custody.
The suspect was transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown (601 East Trade St.) to speak with detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, the suspect was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder.
The victim’s next of kin have been notified his death and of the suspect’s arrest.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, December 9, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 2200 block of Camp Greene Street in the Metro Division.
On Saturday, December 9, 2023, shortly after 4:00 a.m., officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were in the 2200 block of Camp Greene Street and heard gunshots being fired in the area. Officers then located a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds near the street. The victim was transported by MEDIC to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Investigations responded to process the scene. Representatives from the CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
