Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 100 block of Kingsford Drive in the Steele Creek Division.
Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, March 24, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified a suspect in the murder of Juan Carlos Miranda-Perez.
In the morning hours of Friday, March 24, 2023, Javier Torres Diaz (09/16/1980), was arrested near Warrenton Virginia. The arrest was accomplished due to a collaborative, multi-jurisdictional effort involving members of CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office (VA), Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office (VA) and the U.S. Secret Service. Mr. Diaz has been charged with Murder. Homicide detectives are traveling to Warrenton, VA to interview Mr. Diaz. Once extradition is granted, he will be transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim’s family has been notified of the arrest.

Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, March 19, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 100 block of Kingsford Drive in the Steele Creek Division.
On Sunday, March 19, 2023, shortly after 5:30 a.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 100 block of Kingsford Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with an apparent stab wound. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
