Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, September 27, 2024) – The deceased pedestrian in this case has been identified as Mr. Pliuh Rocom, 43. Mr. Rocom’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Fatal Pedestrian Crash Investigation in the Eastway Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, September 26, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in the Eastway Division.
On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at approximately 6:50 a.m., Eastway Division officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of N. Davidson Street and Parkwood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male subject lying in the middle of the intersection and a Honda Accord next to the male with front-end damage. The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene. MEDIC transported the pedestrian to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, along with members of the DWI Task Force and Motor Unit responded to the scene to conduct their investigation. Crime Scene Search also responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing N. Davidson Street at the intersection at Parkwood Avenue when he was struck by the Honda. The traffic signal was green for vehicular traffic to enter the intersection on N. Davidson Street at the time of the collision. The driver of the Honda remained on the scene and attempted to render medical aid to the pedestrian.
The driver of the Honda was screened for impairment and found not to be impaired.
In the afternoon hours of Wednesday, September 25, detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit were notified by hospital staff that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.
At this time, the identity of the pedestrian is unknown and next of kin has not been notified.
