Fatal Motorcycle Crash Investigation in the University City Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, October 18, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle in the University City Division.

On Thursday, October 17, 2024, shortly after 5 p.m., University City Division officers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in the 6300 Highland Creek Parkway.  The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene.  Upon arrival, officers located a 2024 Kawasaki ZR900F motorcycle.  Officers also located the motorcycle’s operator lying on the sidewalk.  MEDIC pronounced the motorcyclist, Gregory Allen Glisson Jr, 34, deceased on scene.

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, DWI Task Force, Street Racing Task Force and the Motor Unit responded to the scene to conduct their investigation and members of Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. The preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Glisson, Jr. was traveling south on Highland Creek Parkway at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the motorcycle, veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a pole.

Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in this crash.  Toxicology results are pending.

Mr. Glisson, Jr’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
