Fatal Motorcycle Crash Investigation in the Providence Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, August 16, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle in the Providence Division.

 

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, shortly after 3 p.m., Providence Division officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injury involving a motorcycle in the 7700 block of Fairview Road.  Upon arrival, officers located a 2014 Jeep Wrangler with front-end damage and a 2009 Kawasaki EX650 with heavy damage.  The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene.  MEDIC pronounced the operator of the motorcycle, Mr. Jacob Todd Woolery, 22, deceased on scene.

 

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene to conduct their investigation and members of Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. The preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Woolery was traveling west on Fairview Road when the driver of the Jeep pulled out to make a left turn when the motorcycle collided into the Jeep. The impact of the crash ejected Mr. Woolery from the motorcycle.  The 16-year-old juvenile driver of the Jeep was transported by MEDIC to a local hospital with minor injuries. 

 

Mr. Woolery’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
