Fatal Motorcycle Crash Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, December 13, 2024) – Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Eastway Division are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle.

November 2, 2024, at 5:09 p.m., Eastway Division officers responded to a vehicle crash with injuries in the 400 block of Parkwood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a 2021 Yamaha XSR 700 motorcycle and its injured driver, Nazar Halushka, 28, and a 1996 International 4700 tow truck stopped on the side of the road. MEDIC arrived on scene and transported Mr. Halushka to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center.

November 22, at 2:02 a.m., Mr. Halushka succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Mr. Halushka was traveling on Parkwood Drive. Mr. Halushka and the tow truck were passing one another several times in a no passing zone. Mr. Halushka then collided with an orange traffic barrel. The motorcycle and tow truck did not appear to make contact.

Speed and impairment are not factors in this incident.

Mr. Halushka’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

The investigation into this incident is active and ongoing.
