Case Update: Fatal Hit and Run Crash in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, July 10, 2024) – During the course of the investigation, detectives with the CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit discovered Mr. Wade Terrill Burch was struck by two vehicles. Detectives located one of the vehicles that struck Mr. Burch and identified the driver as Ana Maria Consuelos, 27. Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Ms. Consuelos.
On Monday July 8, 2024, Ms. Consuelos turned herself into the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. She has been charged with Felony Hit and Run (personal injury/death).
Mr. Burch’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.
Detectives are still requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the first vehicle that struck Mr. Burch. The vehicle of interest is believed to be a silver or gray in color 2003-2007 Saturn Ion. The vehicle may have damage to the front right bumper and/or the right side of the vehicle.

Fatal Hit and Run Crash Investigation in the North Tryon Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, May 20, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian in the North Tryon Division.
On Sunday, May 19, 2024, at approximately 4:05 a.m., North Tryon Division officers responded to an assist medic call for service near the 4300 block of E. W.T. Harris Boulevard. Upon arrival, officer located an unconscious pedestrian lying in the travel lanes of E. W.T. Harris Boulevard. The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene. Medic pronounced the pedestrian, Mr. Wade Terrill Burch, 57, deceased on scene.
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene to conduct their investigation and members of Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. The preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Burch was attempting to cross E. W.T. Harris Boulevard when he was struck by a silver or gray sedan. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and was last seen traveling southbound on E. W.T. Harris Boulevard towards N. Sharon Amity Road. Mr. Burch was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
Mr. Burch’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
