Fatal Crash Investigation in the Westover Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, December 23, 2024) – Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles.
On Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 8:54 p.m., Officers responded to a vehicle crash with injury in the 4200 block of South Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located a black 2004 Ducati motorcycle and its rider, Aaron Thomas McPherson Jr., 36. Officers also located a gray 2024 Jeep Compass and its uninjured driver.
MEDIC arrived on scene and pronounced Mr. McPherson deceased as a result of his injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicated that Mr. McPherson was traveling south on South Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The Jeep Compass was making a left turn into a parking lot when the front of Mr. McPherson’s motorcycle struck the right rear passenger door of the Jeep. Mr. McPherson was ejected from his motorcycle.
Speed is a suspected factor for Mr. McPherson. At this time, it is unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash.
Mr. McPherson’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
