Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, November 14, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are conducting a fatal crash investigation in the South Division.
On Monday, November 13, 2023, at approximately 9:12 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries in the 9500 block of Rea Road. Upon arrival, officers located a single vehicle, a 2008 Ford Mustang, damaged off of the roadway. The driver, Brett Noland Birindelli (DOB: 12/03/2000), was located and found unresponsive. Mr. Birindelli was pronounced deceased on scene.
Detectives from the CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit, an investigator with the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office and Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to conduct their investigation. The preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Birindelli was traveling at a high-rate speed, when he lost control of his vehicle, veered off of the right side of the roadway and struck a brick structure. The impact of the crash caused Mr. Birindelli to be ejected from his vehicle. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor for this crash.
There were no other vehicles involved.
Mr. Birindelli’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
