Fatal Crash Investigation in the South Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, June 5, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the South Division.

 

On Monday, June 3, 2024, at approximately 8:15 a.m., South Division officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries involving a pedestrian in the 1500 block of McKee Road.  Upon arrival, officers located a seriously injured pedestrian and a 2012 BMW 328 I with left front-end damage in the roadway.  The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene.  Medic transported the pedestrian, Mehmet Bagci, 75, to Atrium Health Main where he was pronounced deceased. 

 

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and the Motor Unit responded to the hospital and scene to conduct their investigation.  Crime Scene Search also responded to the scene to collect physical evidence.  The preliminary investigation indicates that the BMW driven by, Olga Igorevna Dadalko, 41, was making a left turn onto McKee Road from Hampstead Pond Lane.  Ms. Dadalko failed to stop for the sign and struck the pedestrian, Mr. Bagci, as he was crossing McKee Road.  Ms. Dadalko and the passenger in the BMW were not injured. 

 

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant against Ms. Dadalko for Misdemeanor Death by Vehicle.

 

Mr. Bagci’s next of kin has been notified of this death.
