Fatal Crash Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, January 13, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in the Hickory Grove Division.
On Saturday, January 11, 2025, around 9:23 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries in the 7700 block of E. WT Harris Blvd. On arrival, officers located a silver Honda, a white Dodge Ram pickup truck, a white Chevrolet S10 with extensive damage to the front and a Kia with minor front-end damage. The driver of the Honda, Yaneth Del Carmen Guevara, 40, and the driver of the Chevrolet, Felix Davila, 68, suffered serious injuries.
MEDIC arrived on scene and transported seven individuals to area hospitals for treatment. At the hospital, Ms. Guevara was pronounced deceased due to the injuries she sustained from the collision.
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, DWI Task Force and Motor Unit responded to the scene and the hospital to conduct their investigation. Members of Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. The Charlotte Fire Department also responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates the Chevrolet S10 was being operated by Mr. Davila and was driving on the wrong side of the road on E. WT Harris Blvd. The Chevrolet collided head on with the Honda and the Ram pickup truck. The Kia then struck the trailer hitch of the Ram.
Detectives obtained warrants for Felony Death by Vehicle and four counts of Felony Serious Injuries by Vehicle, which will be served upon Mr. Davila’s release from the hospital.
Excessive speed and impairment are suspected to be contributing factors for this crash.
Ms. Guevara’s next of kin has been notified of her death.
