Fatal Crash Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, January 11, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in the Freedom Division.
On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Freedom Division officers responded to the 3800 Brookshire Boulevard in reference to a motor vehicle crash with injury near the 3800 block of Brookshire Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located a 2008 Infiniti EX35and a 2005 GMC C5500 Flatbed Wrecker in the roadway. The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene. The driver of the Infiniti, Samantha Lasha Brayboy (DOB: 01/13/1990), was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic.
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, DWI Task Force responded to the scene, along with Crime Scene Search to conduct an investigation. The preliminary investigation indicates Ms. Brayboy was traveling southeast on Brookshire Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the left front of her Infiniti struck the back right side of the flatbed truck driven by Donnell Eugene A. McCorbin-Stradford (DOB: 12/22/1986). Mr. McCorbin-Stradford was not injured in the crash.
Ms. Brayboy’s next of kin has been notified of her death.
