Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, May 10, 2024) – This case was initially investigated as a death investigation. As a result of the continued investigation and facts of the case, this is now a homicide investigation.
On Thursday, May 9, 2024, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Washington Field Office located and arrested Alejandro Jose Sequeira, 23, in connection to this case. Mr. Sequeira has been charged with murder. Detectives with the CMPD’s Homicide Unit will travel to Alexandria, Virginia to speak with Mr. Sequeira. Extradition is pending for Mr. Sequeira.
The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

Death Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, April 12, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in the 6200 block of Upas Lane in the Hickory Grove Division.
On Friday, April 12, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 6200 block of Upas Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. MEDIC also responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also assisted.
