Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the University City Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, November 14, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Jameisha Wilkes, 33. The victim’s family has been notified of her death.
As a result of this continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have identified a suspect in this case and obtained warrants for his arrest.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, University City Division Officers responded to the scene and conducted a thorough preliminary investigation that led to the identification of the suspect, Dasean Maddox, 32, in this case as well his current location.
University City Division coordinated resources to locate and arrest the suspect in Cabarrus County. He was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to speak to detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Maddox was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives have charged Maddox with the following:
- Murder
- Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
The victim’s next of kin have been notified of the arrest.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, November 13, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 5400 block of Strive Street in the University City Division.
On Wednesday, November 13, shortly before 3:30 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 5400 block of Strive Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and CFD also responded to assist.
