Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, May 22, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified an additional suspect in connection to this case.   

The CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Terrance Cordell McKnight Jr., 18.  Mr. McKnight is wanted for Murder.  Anyone with information about Mr. McKnight’s whereabouts is asked to call CMPD’s VCAT immediately at 704-336-VCAT (8228).  Mr. McKnight should be considered armed and dangerous.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, April 23, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation, homicide detectives have identified and charged a 17-year-old juvenile as a suspect in connection to this case.

 

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested the juvenile suspect.  The suspect was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 East Trade St.) to speak with detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, the juvenile was transferred into the custody of the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and charged with the following:

 

  • Murder
  • Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

 

The victim’s next of kin have been notified of the arrest.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, April 14, 2024) – The victim has been identified as Kaleb Brown, 17. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, April 12, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 7600 block of Boswell Road in the Hickory Grove Division.

 

On Friday, April 12, shortly after 6:40 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 7600 block of Boswell Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound.  MEDIC also responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also assisted.
