Update: Assault With a Deadly Weapon Investigation in Hickory Grove

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, October 22, 2024) – As a result of the investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit have obtained arrest warrants for a suspect in this case.

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, detectives arrested Mr. Kono Holloway, 21. Mr. Holloway was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 E. Trade Street) to speak with detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Holloway was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Storing a Firearm in Manner Accessible to a Minor.

Mr. Holloway is the father of the victim in this case.

Assault With a Deadly Weapon Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, October 19, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting an assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury investigation near the 8000 block of Trousdale Drive in the Hickory Grove Division.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., officers responded to an assault with deadly weapon call for service near the 8000 block of Trousdale Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound. Medic transported the victim to an area hospital with life threating injuries.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of the CMPD’s Operations Command, the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.

Detectives are speaking to all parties involved. We are not looking for any outstanding suspects.
