ATTENTION - BEWARE OF SCAMMERS
Animal Care & Control (ACC) has been made aware of scam phone calls targeting pet owners who have lost their animals.
Scammers are pretending to be ACC employees, claiming that your pet is at the shelter and needs urgent medical treatment.
They will then ask for payment over the phone, requesting credit card or electronic payment information.
Important Facts:
- ACC will never ask for payment over the phone.
- The only way to reclaim your lost pet from ACC is to come to the shelter in person.
If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately! Then, call 311 or (704) 336-7600 to contact the ACC Call Center.
They can connect you with a supervisor to assist you further.
