Charlotte Placemaking Hub

The Charlotte Placemaking Hub is a one-stop-shop for public realm enhancement tools. It aggregates the tools available through Urban Design, CDOT, Housing & Neighborhood Services, and Engineering & Property Management. The Hub directs you to the program where specific processes, procedures and permitting necessary for communities and neighborhoods to enhance their streets and public spaces can be found.

​Placemaking Grant

Thank you for your Placemaking Grant submissions! The City of Charlotte received over 75 applications for grants up to $10,000 for placemaking projects in celebration of the City’ 250th anniversary. The grants are part of City Manager Marcus Jones’ challenge to complete 250 projects during our 250th year. The submission period is now closed. We hope to award more placemaking grants next year, so please visit this page for more information.

​Placemaking Program: Calling All Artists

The City of Charlotte accepted qualifications from professional artists and teams for inclusion in a prequalified Artist Pool for the Placemaking Program. This pool will be used to match artists on a rolling basis with opportunities for public art throughout Charlotte. Twelve artists focusing on murals, paintings, glass, sculpture, sound, mosaics , digital renderings, and textiles were chosen for the pool.
