The Charlotte Urban Design Center started the Creative Pool in 2018 for city-led and community-led placemaking work. In 2021, the UDC expanded qualifications for creatives to manage, create, and implement original compositions through mixed media, performance, written and spoken word, video/photography, fabrication, and more. Teams, organizations, and businesses that manage the process of implementing public art and performance can also apply for the Pool.
How does the Creative Pool work?
Requests for qualifications will open on January 19th for the 2023 Creative Pool. Complete the application before March 3rd at 5:00 PM for consideration. If you qualify, you will be notified no later than April 12th, 2023. The Urban Design Center will then forward placemaking project requests to the Creative Pool. Creatives can match their skills to projects based on their own ability, interest, and capacity.
