Local and national dignitaries visit MLK Park
U.S. Reps. John Lewis (Ga.) and Alma Adams (N.C.), along with Johnson C. Smith University President Ronald L. Carter joined hundreds of community members in a march from MLK Park to Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center on Nov. 5, 2016. MLK Park is a key element of the West Trade/Rozzelles Ferry CNIP area. Plans for the park include additional access points and parking -- proposed by the consultant, Stantec -- during a four-day charette held Nov. 7-10, 2016 at Mosaic Village. The future Stewart Creek Greenway, being built by Mecklenburg County, will be built just outside the park.
