2040 Comprehensive Plan Vision & Values Workshops (3/5 and 3/6)
The City of Charlotte hosted two 2040 Comprehensive Plan Vision & Values workshops during the first week of March 2019. These workshops focused on existing conditions, current growth trends, challenges to better understand the community's vision and values, along with an explanation of the City's engagement strategy. Over 80 people attended the Tuesday evening workshop at Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and nearly 90 attended the Wednesday meeting at Foundation for the Carolinas. The slide presentation, Facebook live video, and the survey data are available at the links below.

A third workshop will be held on March 20, 2019 at the Simmons YMCA.

The presentation materials were the same at both meetings. The presentation slides [PDF] and display boards are available for download at the links below. Facebook Live video and meeting notes are posted below.

Comprehensive Planning & Equitable Outcomes Gallery Opening

On September 7th Charlotte Planning, Design & Development experimented with engaging the community differently. We tapped into an existing event, the South End First Friday Gallery Crawl and used an accessible City-owned facility to foster a high level engagement to raise awareness about the Comprehensive Plan. It featured:

  • a narrative around the topic of making Charlotte a City of opportunity for all looking at growth and equity,
  • interactive and augmented reality maps and data, and
  • an exercise of thinking about who is currently not engaged and how might we be more inclusive in our engagement.
