Hawthorne Lane Bridge Closure
July 24, 2017 to March 31, 2019
Hawthorne Lane, between Bay Street and Hawthorne Bridge Court, will close on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 9 a.m. until approximately Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 6 p.m. This closure is necessary for preparation work, bridge demolition and bridge reconstruction as part of CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 construction.
Additionally, Northbound Hawthorne Lane between East 7th Street and Bay Street, will close during this same timeframe to accommodate the bridge closure.
Motorists should utilize East 7th Street and Central Avenue as the detour. This road will be closed to all through traffic.

Sunnyside Avenue, between Hawthorne Lane and Lamar Avenue
Sunnyside Avenue, between Hawthorne Lane and Lamar Avenue, will close to through traffic starting Tuesday, January 2, 2019 at 9 a.m. and will be restored Monday, Januar 21 at 6 a.m.
N. Sycamore St. between Trade Street and 5th Street
N. Sycamore St. between W. Trade St. and W. 5th St. will be closed starting Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 9:00 AM and will be restored on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 6:00 AM.
E Trade Street between Tryon and College
E. Trade St. between Tryon St. and College St. will become One Way (Westbound Only) starting Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 9:00 AM and will be restored on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 6:00 PM.
Local Access Detour: Trade St. Eastbound from Church St. - Right on Church St., Left on 3rd St., Left on College St.
HISTORIC WEST END
W. Trade Street between Rozzelles Ferry Rd. / W. 5th St. and I-77 North Connector Rd.
W. Trade St. between S. Bruns Ave. through Frazier Ave. will become One Way (Eastbound Only) starting Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 9:00 AM and will be restored tentatively on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 6:00 PM.
W. Trade St. between I-77 South Loop and I-77 South Connector Rd. will be closed starting Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 9:00 AM and will be restored tentatively on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 6:00 PM.
Local Access Detour: Trade St. Westbound from I-77 North Connector Road: Right on I-77 North Connector Rd., Left on W. 5th St.
Beatties Ford Road, between French Street and Rozzelles Ferry/ W 5th Street
Beatties Ford Road, between French Street and Rozzelles Ferry/ W 5th Street will have single lane closures in each direction beginning Tuesday, January 7 at 9 a.m.
I-77 North Off Ramp (Exit 10) to Trade Street
I-77 North (Exit 10) at Trade Street will be detoured onto Eastbound W. Trade Street beginning Thursday, January 7, 2019 at 9 a.m. and will be restored Monday, February 4, 2019 at 6 a.m.
Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled, and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, City traffic engineers work directly with other City staff and contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.
Pedestrians walking near work zone areas should be alert, cautious and allow extra traveling time. It is advised they cross at signalized intersections, use pedestrian walk signals where available and abide by detour signage.
Motorists traveling through work zone areas should be alert and extra cautious. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers should double their following distance.
