Gold Line

Elizabeth Segment - 7th Street and Hawthorne Lane Closure

The intersection of 7th Street and Hawthorne Lane, in the Elizabeth neighborhood, will be closed from July 15 through August 12 for the installation of track.

This effort is a component of resequencing construction elements for the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 project. The recent delay of Hawthorne Bridge construction, which will resume work this fall, has caused the contractor to re-sequence certain elements of construction.

Once the intersection of 7th and Hawthorne opens to traffic on August 12, the remaining work on Hawthorne Lane will include completion of the Hawthorne Lane Bridge, station platform construction and other work.

Completing this work ahead of sequence provides a number of benefits to the community including:

  1. 28-day closure as opposed to the originally planned 48-day closure, saving 2-3 months on the overall schedule
  2. Less traffic impacts to the community due to school being out
  3. When the intersection reopens, two-way traffic will be restored in this intersection through the remainder of the project.
