Charlotte Gateway Station

The Passenger Facilities Program consists of the capital development program for Community Transit Centers, Park & Ride lots, and supporting facilities. Development of passenger facilities is a part of CATS’ current approved budget and work program.
CATS has an ambitious capital program to serve existing passengers and to attract new riders throughout Mecklenburg County.
As CATS prepares for rapid transit centers and more services in the Charlotte area, community transit centers will serve as a transfer point to other CATS services.  CATS operates transit centers at the Eastland, SouthPark Mall and Rosa Parks Place, located near Beatties Ford Rd, Community Transit Centers. Future locations of community transit centers are identified in the 2025 Corridor System Plan and the 2007 Countywide Transit Services Plan.
CATS has continued its focus on enhancing customer service and amenities with the opening of several park and ride lots in the last decade. The Huntersville-Gateway Park & Ride and the Huntersville-Northcross Park & Ride serve northern Mecklenburg County.  CATS also owns and operates the Matthews-Independence Pointe Park & Ride and the Mallard Creek Park & Ride. Construction of the Albemarle Rd Park & Ride began in 2012.
Working closely with the Art-in-Transit Program, public art is integrated into the design of every transit facility. One percent of the design and construction budget of transit facility projects are dedicated to public art.
