Center City
A large part of the Updated 2030 System Plan is determining how all of the corridors come together in Uptown. CATS held numerous Center City Charlettes with the goal of better understanding the tradeoffs between options, and identify ways to improve all remaining options. The Center City Integration Study determines how best to integrate three corridors into downtown with LYNX Blue Line, CityLYNX Gold Line, and Charlotte Gateway District.
During the January 2019 MTC meeting, CATS staff recommended:
CATS North End option connects the Southeast light rail alignment to the west through Center City
Picking up from the LYNX Silver Line at Highway 74 and I-277, the North End option travels across I-277 to 11h Street, crossing over Graham Street
It heads towards the Charlotte Gateway District before connecting to Wilkinson Blvd
It is anticipated, the MTC will vote on this recommendation at its February 27, 2019 meeting.
