Safety is CATS' No. 1 priority!

The Office of Safety and Security is responsible for the day-to-day safety and security of the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). These safety and security responsibilities cover anyone who encounters the system including passengers, employees and contractors. The office carries safety oversight responsibility for the physical infrastructure, buses, light rail and streetcar vehicles, Special Transportation Services (STS) and Vanpool vehicles.

Safety is EVERYONE's Responsibility. Here's how you can be safe:

  • Report any hazards to a transit police officer, operators or customer service at 704-336-7433.

  • Report any suspicious activity to the CATS See Something, Say Something, Elerts App, available for iPhone and Android users.

  • If you're a contractor working with the LYNX Blue Line or CityLYNX Gold Line, you must participate in Right-Of-Way Training. Please fill out a ROW form and return to safety@charlottenc.gov.
