MODIFIED SERVICE


Beginning Monday, June 8, 2020, CATS will end free rides on all services.  On this date, a valid pass, ticket or cash fare will be required to ride.  On June 1, customers may begin purchasing tickets at the Charlotte Transportation Center or from one of several pass sales locations throughout the area.  Passes will also be available for purchase via the CATS Pass mobile app or via the CATS Ecommerce site.


Service Updates

Also, on June 8, CATS will implement changes to its current modified service.


LYNX Blue Line:

Monday-Saturday

The Blue Line will operate on a Saturday schedule with a modification:

  • 15-minute service between 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • We will operate the printed rail Saturday schedule after 7:00 p.m.

 

Sunday 

Regular Sunday schedule


CATS Bus Service:

Monday – Friday

CATS will continue operating the modified service implemented on March 25 and increase frequency on the following high ridership routes: 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 16, 21, 27 and 34.


Saturday

Regular Sunday schedule


Express Service:

Continue with March 25 modified service.



April Passes:

For customers who purchased an April monthly or an April weekly pass, exchanges can be made at the Charlotte Transportation Center, 310 E. Trade Street. We’ll be implementing new hours for customer service on June 1.  Hours of operation will be 5:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday - Friday and 7 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday -Sunday. The pass sales booth is located at Pavilion C.  If you purchased an electronic ticket via the CATS Pass Mobile App, please contact our customer service staff directly at 704-336-7433 between the hours of 5:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday-Friday or 7 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Exchanges will be permitted through July 31, 2020.


We ask that you have your pass ready when boarding and remember to practice social distancing with the operator, fare inspectors, and your fellow passengers.  Please continue to exit from the back door of the bus when applicable.  CATS encourages all riders to follow the CDC recommendation of wearing a non-surgical cloth face covering while in public.

In April, CATS provided the following instructions to assist our customers with social distancing while riding.  

When you enter: 
 

  • Look for the yellow designated line to indicate 6’ from the operator.  

  • Do NOT sit in the seats with an “X” on them. Look for markings on the floor to indicate seats that are 6’ apart

  • We will work to ensure customer loads do not exceed 20 passengers per bus.

  • As a reminder we encourage all our riders to follow the CDC guidelines and wear a mask.



Starting on Wednesday, March 25, CATS will make modifications to transit service to accommodate the current demand. By operating modified service, CATS is able to continue providing the community access to essential daily needs, front-line jobs and medical services.

All service will be FREE during this time.  These changes are effective until further notice.

LYNX Blue Line:

  • The LYNX Blue Line will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Local Bus:

  • Local bus service will operate as follows:
    • Monday – Saturday buses will run a Saturday schedule
    • On Sunday buses will run a Sunday schedule

Routes 42 Carowinds and 50 URP/CIC Shuttle

There is no weekend service on routes 42 and 50.

Express and Regional Express:

  • Limited Express/Regional Express service.  
  • Express Routes 41X, 61X, 65X, 88X will not operate.  Customers are advised to use local routes during this time.

Special Transportation Service:

  • Service will operate for life essential trips only.

Route 290 Davidson Shuttle will not operate during this time.

Sales of ALL monthly passes have been suspended. If you've purchased an April monthly pass, please keep it, and CATS will exchange it for another pass at a future date.

To help protect our employees and yourself, we ask that you limit your contact with our operators and exit via the back door of the vehicle.  Remember social distancing while riding with your fellow passengers and continue with good hygiene, especially washing your hands.

Daily cleaning and sanitization occur on all CATS vehicles. This includes the handrails, poles, the operator's area, floors, seats, and interior panels. We have implemented contamination protocol on all vehicles and increased our disinfecting efforts. This includes cleaning surfaces with hospital-grade disinfectants and a disinfectant fogger on light rail vehicles. CATS Facilities are cleaned and disinfected thoroughly on a daily basis.
