Haley Gentry is the Chief Business and Innovation Officer for the City's Aviation Department, which owns and operates Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). Her position involves overseeing four of the department's divisions. These divisions are Business and Revenue, Information Technology, Economic & Community Affairs and Innovation and Experience.
Gentry is responsible for managing the Aviation Department's multi-million-dollar Airport revenue portfolio. This includes airlines, in-terminal concessions, rental cars, fixed base operator and various parking products. She is also responsible for the development of non-aeronautical revenues and the implementation of the Aviation Department's commercial development strategy.
Gentry has been a part of the Aviation Department since 1991. She started as an intern and over time worked her way up to her current position. She has been involved in various areas of the department such as Airport Operations, Public Affairs, the Aviation Director's Office and Business and Revenue. Her work has included leading airline lease negotiations, serving as the Aviation Department's spokesperson, creating customer service initiatives, expanding air cargo opportunities including establishment of a Foreign Trade Zone on Airport property, managing the department's interest in large scale events such as the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and NCAA Final Four and more.
She has a Bachelor of Science from Appalachian State University and is a member of the North Carolina Airports Association, American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), Women in Aviation International and Renaissance West Community Initiative.
