System Number: 01-60-010  WATER MAIN BREAK UPDATE

March 3, 2021

After Charlotte Water customers in the Mallard Creek / University area experienced periods of low pressure and outages due to a 24” water main break on March 1, Charlotte Water isolated the main break and made temporary repairs to restore pressure and service. Permanent repair work is ongoing without further anticipated interruptions of service. Both Monday and Tuesday, March 1 and March 2, water quality samples were collected and tested by Charlotte Water’s N.C.-certified laboratory and the results show that the distribution system contains no harmful bacteria.

If customers experience discolored or cloudy water, customers are encouraged to flush cold water taps for 10-15 minutes and/or follow the manufacturer’s guidance for flushing appliances like water filters and ice machines. If water quality concerns persist, please contact your property manager if residing in an apartment/townhome unit or call 311 if you do not live in an apartment so Charlotte Water can investigate.
