New Connections​

**In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and to ensure health and welfare of Charlotte Water IDS Staff as well as to our customers, we are shifting to remote meetings when feasible and in-person meeting requests will be reviewed by necessity. Additionally, we will shift to a staggered/remote working combination.  Onsite review staff will be kept to minimum staffing levels; however, the majority of the work is expected to occur remotely.

Currently, inspection services will continue as scheduled. During this adjustment, please direct all plan review, inspection and permit fees by mail to: 600 East Trade Street, Suite 20, Charlotte, NC  28202 

Please be patient as review times and response times may be longer than anticipated.

To request water to be turned on / off or transfer your account, 

  • Call 311 or 704-336-7600 and ask for "water move in / move out or to transfer a water account."  
  • CharMeck 311 can assist from 7:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If you need a water meter or wastewater tap installed, 

  • Call 311 or 704-336-7600 (ask for "New Tap Request") or 704-432-2854.

  • Visit Customer Service ​at 5100 Brookshire Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28216. Staff is available at the counter to the right of the lobby from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
