Park It
Charlotte's Park It program manages on-street parking throughout Uptown, South End, Elizabeth, NoDa and Commonwealth Avenue in Plaza Midwood. Access to the area's many restaurants, clubs, museums and government buildings is more convenient than ever. With over 1,200 metered spaces in Uptown and South End, visitors can enjoy short-term, inexpensive parking while they shop, dine and conduct business. Parking rates at on-street meters and pay stations are $1.50 per hour.
All vehicles parked in metered parking spaces are required to pay the meter or pay station for the corresponding time the vehicle occupies the space. This requirement also applies to City, County and other Government fleet vehicles, unless otherwise permitted. All CDOT-issued Right of Way Use permits must be displayed on the front dash.
The Park It On-street Parking Program is a Charlotte Department of Transportation turnkey operation outsourced to
SPPlus.
City of Charlotte Strategic Parking Plan Virtual Public Engagement
The City of Charlotte is currently developing a Strategic Parking Plan (SPP). The study includes two Phases that will allow us to capture data that reflects today’s landscape and realize future needs. During Phase One of the SPP, the city is studying its on-street parking and curb lane management program in Uptown and South End.
We want your input as we assess the existing on-street parking system to understand parking and loading trends and to learn what needs exist as we develop a plan to provide better curb lane access for all users. Phase One will also include recommendations to update the Residential Parking Permit Program, which is a citywide effort.
Visit the
Charlotte Strategic Parking Plan engagement portal for information about the SPP, to take the survey, and to provide your thoughts on our interactive feedback map. This is the first of several engagement opportunities over the coming months and through 2023. We appreciate your partnership in this effort to maximize Charlotte’s curb space in a way that better serves your needs into the future!
