Old Providence Road & Rea Road

A new traffic signal has been approved by the North Carolina Department of Transportation for installation at the intersection of Old Providence Road and Rea Road.  The signal is being installed to accommodate existing and future turning traffic, reduce crashes and delays during the morning and evening peak periods.

Will there be left turn arrows? 

Yes, a left turn phase will be installed for eastbound Rea Road.

Will there be crosswalks and pedestrian signals? 

Yes, crosswalks and pedestrian signals will be installed for crossing Old Providence and Rea Road.

Where is the money for the signal coming from? 

The signal is being funded through the North Carolina Department of Transportation's Spot Safety Fund.

Will any additional road construction take place before the signal is installed? 

No, the signal will be installed using the current intersection geometry.

When will the signal be operational? 

An exact date is difficult to determine due to the variables involved.  However, the plan is to have the signal operational by the fall of 2018.
