The Stewart Creek Tributary 2 Greenway and Stream Enhancement Project will improve creek banks to reduce erosion and sediment. Construction is scheduled to start in March and is anticipated to take eight months.
Mecklenburg County is beginning construction on a new section of Stewart Creek Greenway. The Stewart Creek greenway trail, stream enhancement project, and water quality enhancement project is a partnership between Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation Department and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services. Objectives:
- Repair Eroding Stream Banks
- Improve Water Quality
- Improve Habitat
- Reduce the amount of sediment in the water
- *This project WILL NOT reduce flooding
Estimated Cost: $175,000*
*includes all costs associated with this project such as planning and design, utility relocation, consultant fees, permits, construction, and landscaping.
The project team will manage the project through several phases. Specific work is conducted during each phase. Public involvement is emphasized throughout the process.
