Overview
Mecklenburg County Storm Water Services plans to design and construct a stream and water quality improvement project to restore the creek to a more stable, natural condition. The project includes approximately 7,900 linear feet of Toby Creek from W.T. Harris Boulevard to the confluence with Mallard Creek and approximately 1,800 linear feet of Mallard Creek from North Tryon Street to E. Mallard Creek Church Road.
Objectives:
- Stabilize eroded stream banks
- Restore the floodplain to its natural state and function
- Improve habitat for aquatic life
- Improve stream buffer with species diversity and additional plants
- Enhance water quality
Estimated Cost: $2,300,000*
*includes all costs associated with this project such as planning and design, utility relocation, consultant fees, permits, construction, and landscaping.
The project team will manage the project through several phases. Specific work is conducted during each phase and public involvement is emphasized throughout the process.
