Collection Change FAQs
* Note: Not all residents are impacted by this collection schedule change. Notification letters and reminders have been mailed to impacted residences.*
Why are there changes to the garbage, yard waste, recycling, and bulky collection schedules?
It is the goal of City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services to provide exceptional service to residents. To continue achieving that standard and address the city’s consistent growth, periodic adjustments to maximize operational efficiency are necessary.
How will I be notified about my collection schedule change?
Letters notifying impacted residents will be mailed the week of March 31. A reminder will be sent the week of April 16. If you do not receive notification regarding collection schedule change by April 21, it is most likely because your collection day or recycling week will not change. You may call CharMeck 311 if you need to follow up more.
Will both my garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulky item collection day AND my recycling week change?
No. If your collection day changes, your recycling week will stay the same. Similarly, if your recycling week has changed, your collection day will remain the same. No one will experience changes to both their recycling week and collection day.
Find your recycling collection week on the Solid Waste Services web page.
