The mission of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office is to provide a comprehensive and integrated program that focuses on an all-hazard’s approach to emergency management for Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office provides the coordination, support, training and education necessary to protect the county by integrating all activities necessary to prevent, prepare, mitigate, respond to, and recover from natural and man-made disasters.

Our Duty to the Community

Emergency Management is responsible for maintaining emergency plans including, but not limited to:

• The Mecklenburg County Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)
• The Hazard Mitigation Plan [View current Meck County MJHMP(PDF, 46MB)

• The Uptown Evacuation Plan
• The Fixed Nuclear Facility Emergency Preparedness Program
• The Hazardous Materials Program
• The Mecklenburg County Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

Many of these plans are a result of a partnership with various local governments, non-profit agencies, private sector companies, and faith-based organizations.

CMEMO offers advisement and coordination of all parts of the emergency response and recovery process. The CMEMO ensures all entities involved in emergency planning and execution are operating on the same level and are working toward the common goal of public safety.
