As our community continues to grow, the need for educated and informed citizens, businesses and our response partners increases. Policies, procedures and plans change often at the local, state and federal levels and it’s hard to keep up with the latest details associated with preparedness, planning, mitigation and response efforts. We are here to help our community stay in the loop with training and exercise opportunities.
If you would like to request assistance in coordinating an exercise for your facility or with your agency, request a local training opportunity or share with our team a training or exercise opportunity you are aware of or are offering, we ask that you complete the included form, and our office will reach out to you.
Our state and local emergency management entities offer a plentiful amount of training opportunities as well, including independent study and virtual opportunities. You can learn more by visiting:
Whether you are in the emergency management profession or a citizen of Mecklenburg County, a critical piece of staying safe is to be aware of current emergency management, preparedness and safety related events.
We welcome requests and inquiries for our local, state and national media. If you are a member of the media or with a credentialed agency, please submit your request or inquiry via email to charmeckem@charlottenc.gov. Our Public Information Officer will respond accordingly. If your request is urgent, please identify this in your request.
Population growth and increased development opportunities have positioned the Charlotte region as a desirable location for large special events and conferences. As the home base for the Carolina Panthers (Bank of America Stadium), the Charlotte Hornets (Spectrum Center), the Charlotte Knights (Truist Field) and the Charlotte FC (Bank of America Stadium), our athletic teams draw large crowds and the venues where they play also host well known musicians and bands resulting in well attended concerts.
Our team maintains a variety of tools for internal use by our team and response partners as well as tools for the general public that assist in connecting people, locations and data using interactive maps. These tools compliment and in some cases, sync data between various situational awareness platforms.
