This segment of the Cross Charlotte Trail will stretch approximately one mile between Cordelia Park at North Davidson Street and 24th Street to Matheson Avenue at Chic Godley Road. Some alignment opportunities have occurred over the course of design to take advantage of several city-led projects in the area, as well as private developments nearby. This updated alignment leverages these projects while also reducing overall costs.

The goals for this segment of the trail are the following:
Comfortable - Separated from streets and traffic as much as possible within project budget and other constraints
Accessible and bicycle-friendly - Hard surface suitable for bikes and wheelchairs, smooth turns and limited slopes to meet ADA requirements
Enjoyable - Amenities to enhance enjoyment and safety, such as signage, benches, trashcans, landscaping, aesthetic treatments and public art
Expandable - Provide opportunities for additional connections and amenities in the future
The project team hosted the following public meetings during the planning phase:
May 10, 2017 - Joint public meeting with the project team for the Matheson Avenue Bridge Streetscape project at the Belmont Center
May 11 - June 12, 2017 - Joint online public meeting with the Matheson Avenue Bridge Streetscape project, for those unable to attend the May 10, 2017 in-person meeting
