This project will make improvements to Back Creek Church Road from Rocky River Road and Scott Creek Road (the southern section of Back Creek Church Road). Improvements include curb & gutter, planting strips, turning lanes and a multiuse path on one side of the road and a sidewalk on the other side. It will also improve vehicular sight distance and provide landscaping and street lighting.
Project history
This plan was endorsed by the public as the better of two options presented March 22, 2012 to include a design alternative that best utilized the street improvements listed above. The second option considered but rejected was a 10-foot-wide multiuse path extending from Rocky River Road to University City Boulevard.
After this public meeting, the project team moved forward with the design to include the southern section roadway improvements and to provide a 5-foot-wide sidewalk between Timber Ridge Road and Wake Robin Lane. The alignment of the 5-foot-wide sidewalk follows the previously proposed 10-foot-wide multiuse path.
The sidewalk from Timber Ridge Road to Wake Robin Lane will not be built due to environmental restrictions at Back Creek, the location of overhead utility lines and the potential impact of the future Eastern Circumferential on Back Creek Church Road.
