Ashley Road sidewalk
Project phase

 Project updates

This project will construct sidewalk along the east side of Ashley Road from Greenland Avenue to Allegheny Road. The scope for this project will include an 8-foot planting strip and 6-foot sidewalk, along with driveway improvements, wheelchair ramps and minor curb adjustments to eliminate pinch points. Asphalt resurfacing, including pavement markings for bike lanes within these limits, will be conducted by Charlotte Department of Transportation street maintenance once construction is complete.

In accordance with Transportation Action Plan, the City prioritizes sidewalk projects based on the City's adopted sidewalk retrofit policy as adopted by City Council. This project is a high-priority request along a thoroughfare and connects multiple land uses, provides access to business and transit and extends the pedestrian network.

During the planning phase, the project team will host public meetings to get feedback from nearby residents and businesses. Details of meetings will be posted on this page and on the Citywide event calendar and postcards will be mailed to citizens along this corridor.

$4.2 million

Please note this is the funding amount and includes all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.
