25th Street Connection
Project phase
Vines, to be planted in large planter boxes, will reach out from side to side and eventually meet and intertwine above Little Sugar Creek on the "Living Bridge," created by artist Laurie Lundquist.

 Project updates

This project originated from the Northeast Corridor Infrastructure Program (NECI) planning effort. It will connect 25th Street over Upper Little Sugar Creek, requiring a bridge or culvert structure to be added. The conceptual cross-section includes two travel lanes, bike lanes, curb & gutter, sidewalk & planting strip and street trees, as well as on-street parking (from the bridge to North Brevard Street).
  • To provide a direct street connection from Brevard Street to North Davidson Street

  • To improve accessibility to the Villa Heights neighborhood and the 25th Street light rail station

  • To promote economic development by providing infrastructure to support and encourage transit supportive development

  • October 12, 2016 at the Charlotte Main Library (LYNX Blue Line Extension meeting)
