 Project updates
  • ​This project involves the replacement of the main sewer line running along Toby Creek just south of UNC Charlotte and is needed due to aging sewer infrastructure in the Toby Creek drainage basin.
  • The pipelines are experiencing additional flows due to rapid population growth, which results in the need to increase sewer capacity. 
What To Expect
  • The design work in Phase II & III of the project will take place along the corridor of Toby Creek from south of Rocky River Road West moving northward to the UNC Charlotte campus. Some work will occur along the Toby Creek Greenway.
  • During each phase, surveyors and engineers will gather information along the project corridor. This information will be used to determine the limits of construction and location of the sewer line.
Project Schedule
  • Investigation and Design Phases II &III: January - October 2023.
  • Construction Phase: Expected start date of Summer 2025 and anticipated to take approximately 2 years. 
  • The goal of the project is to provide an increase in sanitary sewer capacity to address current and projected sewer demands.
  • ​Formal and Informal meetings will be held with the public as needed throughout the duration of the project.
