In May of 2017 CDOT facilitated a one-week separated bicycle lane demonstration project which was sponsored by Open Streets 704, with support from the Plaza-Midwood Stroll and Roll advocacy group. The boundaries of the project were along The Plaza, from Central Avenue to Belvedere Avenue. The results of the demonstration project and public feedback from local residents are summarized in a report, which can be accessed by clicking on this link.
With the success of the demonstration project and neighborhood support, the City plans to implement a permanent street conversion project. The limits of the street conversion are along The Plaza; from Central Avenue to Mecklenburg Avenue. Please note that a separate City project is being undertaken along Parkwood Avenue and The Plaza, which will include modifications to the signalized intersection.
