 Project updates

This project will improve a 1.36-acre site north of the intersection of Benfield Road and DeArmon/Johnston Oehler Road to create a public open space for use by the surrounding community. The site is situated at the dead end of Docia Crossing Road and is positioned to serve as a gateway to the Prosperity Village area. The public space was identified in the Prosperity Hucks Area Plan as open space and a greenway connector into the South Core Activity Center.

The Green will provide the community a common space to use for passive recreation, education and community events. The City of Charlotte's initiative to construct 250 place making projects across the City in 2019 prompted the launch of this project.

General Services; Planning, Design & Development Placemaking Program; Charlotte Water and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services are all contributing financially to implement the project and its educational components.
