Monroe Road Multiuse Path
Project phase

 Project updates

The project will install an 8- to 12-foot-wide multiuse path along the north side of Monroe Road from Eaton Road to McMullen Way. This project will also connect the Monroe Road Streetscape project and the Idlewild/Rama/Monroe Intersection project.

  • To increase connectivity pedestrians and bicyclists

  • To enhance safety for pedestrians and bicyclists

The City of Charlotte conducted a series of meetings in 2015 to solicit feedback about potential sidewalk and bicycle projects along the Independence Boulevard corridor from Briar Creek Road to Sardis Road North. The goal is to provide more transportation choices, connectivity and accessibility.

To be determined

The Capital Investment Plan approved by City Council in 2013 calls for voters to consider approval of funding for a number of infrastructure programs. Voters approved bond financing in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020. For this project, City staff engages the community to determine the details of what will ultimately be built. Once these details are known, the cost of the project is estimated and published. Learn more about the Capital Investment Plan at
