Sunset/Beatties Ford Comprehensive Neighborhood Improvement Program

Project phase

It is an aerial view of the roundabout showing traffic traveling through the intersection of Lakeview Road and Reames Road with approximately 12 vehicles traveling through the intersection.

 Project updates

This project will improve the intersection of Lakeview Road and Reames Road and provide a sidewalk on Lakeview Road from Reames Road to Beatties Ford Road. Lakeview Road is expected to have higher traffic volumes and different travel patterns due to the new "direct connect" interchange with I-77 being constructed as a part of the North Carolina Department of Transportation I-77 express lanes project. This project will address this projected increase in traffic volume at the intersection.

  • To improve the function of the intersection
  • To improve safety for all modes of traffic
  • To improve pedestrian and bicycle access to Hornets' Nest Park
  • To enhance transit access and coordinate with the NCDOT I-77 express lanes project

Extensive community engagement and outreach took place in connection with the Sunset/Beatties Ford Road CNIP planning process. For details, visit the Sunset/Beatties Ford Road CNIP page.
